The Abel Tasman Coast Track is a 60 kilometres (37 mi) long walking track within the Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand.It extends from Marahau in the south to Wainui in the north, with many side tracks. Mostly sealed - up hills and down. We viewed the Tasman Glacier from a viewing area, accessed by a trail called the "Tasman Glacier View", a 20-minute steep incline to the top of a range overlooking the glacier lake and the tip of the glacier. You can walk the whole track (in either direction) with a bus or car shuttle at the end to take you back to the start. Time: 40 - 60 minute walk. This is a good find. PLEASE NOTE: Days Track is currently closed and not accessible at this time.
With only a few steep sections, the walk is a comfortable 5 hours allowing ample time to relax and enjoy the expansive views of the surrounding Tasman Peninsular and further south to Bruny Island. The Abel Tasman Coast Track is a bit unusual for a multi-day hiking track as you’ve a myriad of options on how you can tackle it.
